Hurricane Sandy is here, ready or not?

by Alison on October 29, 2012

Whoosh-the wind is picking up here in New Jersey and I am sure most of the East Coast is meeting hurricane Sandy. My husband is outside right now, checking on the house, and probably his amateur radio antennas. The Trees are bending and the rain is coming down heavier.  Power outages are expected and are ongoing, we are being told not to travel, stay home and stay inside. There are many other things to do to prepare for bad weather and disasters.

Be Ready with tips, list, information and kits from these official sites:

http://www.ready.gov/basic-disaster-supplies-kit after you build your kit, make sure everyone in your house knows the location of the kit so anyone can access supplies.

http://www.ready.gov/build-a-kit these are things you might already have around your house, and can use in your kit.

Even if you are reading this post during or after hurricane Sandy, now is the time to prepare for now and later.

Make a plan, make a kit, be ready. Follow your county or local government for updates.

Please be careful and wise. Stay safe and calm.
