Frugal New Year’s Resolutions: Link a Post or Comment Here

by sarah on December 28, 2010

For my column in the Phoenix this week, I need YOUR input. How do you plan to save money in 2011? What are your frugal resolutions?

Coupons? {I hear a new show is coming: Extreme Couponing!}

Do you plan to be more green? More organic? Read frugal websites? {What websites helped you the most in 2010 and which will you revisit?}

Do you subscribe to the paper for coupons or did you stop taking the paper to save the money?

How will you barter your goods and services for ones you need?

Either comment here AND/OR add a link to a blog post if you have already written something on this topic! Unless you tell me otherwise, I will be collecting quotes from both and highlighting as many of you (with name, quote and website if applicable) that I can fit into 600 words.

Add your links or comments now! I look forward to seeing your resolutions – and being inspired by them!!

{Update: Add your permalink in the comments and I’ll check it out. MckLinky was doing something weird to my site so I had to delete it.}

Between the holidays, our son’s birthday and some unexpected home repairs, I was getting nervous about the upcoming December card statement. We’ve been saving coins in a big jar for about five years and decided this was a good time to cash them in. We were so surprised to find out how much we had saved! That money is going to be a huge help with this month’s bills and will start us off in a better place for the new year.

We save money in the New Year by buying gifts for friends and family during the after the holiday’s sales that stores have to get rid of their unsold holiday inventory! We stock up on kids birthday gifts, holiday ornaments, and more!

Also, we love to buy clothes for the kids at consignment stores and garage sales – huge money saver and it teaches the kids to enjoy the hunt!

I pledge to use coupons on every grocery store trip NO MATTER WHAT!!! I also pledge to not use every GAP coupon I have just because I have a coupon. How will I pass up the bargains??? LOL

Have a happy & frugal new year!

I am on the coupon wagon, too. I shop a lot at Whole Foods, where a great number of the brands aren’t in the weekly coupon sections of the papers, so I have to be extra inventive. In addition to the store’s own coupons, I join the websites of our regular brands to get access to their coupons and promotions. Every bit helps!

Absolutely!! Coupons are like cash in the bank – when you can find the right ones!!
